Engineered Stone (Quartz) a term used to includes all slab stone that is made from Quartz taken from a quarry (just like granite) and mixed with polymers. The result is a more consistent color and look than natural slab stone that is pulled directly from the ground/mountain/ocean floor in slab form. Common commercial names for engineered stone are Silestone, Caesarstone, Technistone, Cambria, Hanstone and Dupont Zodiaq.
The fabrication methods used to fabricate (cut and polish) the slab to your specifications are virtually the same as natural slab stone.
